This year’s Film Marathon programme focuses on three directors celebrating milestone anniversaries, Márta Mészáros, Miklós Jancsó and Zoltán Huszárik; two masters of animation, Sándor Reisenbüchler and János Halász (John Halas); and László Moholy-Nagy, an avant-garde personality who is hard to categorize. All are artists with strong voices and determined visions; their movies have become classics of Hungarian, indeed universal film history. The pick stresses the diversity of their oeuvres, in which one can discover both continuity and change. The screening programme has introductions by artists and film historians as well as a book presentation.
